VILLA ANNA, SIUNTIO, FINLAND Situated on a small, rocky “isle” amidst the beautiful lands of Siuntio in South-Finland, the villa is designed for a musician-writer couple who seek the exclusiveness of the country side for their work. Also here, the surrounding landscape was decisive for the design : barely touching down on the rocks, the villa is kept free of its base and, with the terraces , opens up to the abundant space. The interplay of the interior and exterior is furthermore enhanced by the structure of the curved roof, where the laminated beams form a regular rhythm, always noticeable as a basso continuo, keeping all parts together. Acoustics played also a determant role in the shape of the living area and the used materials, as the house was entirely built from wood. Design and construction 2004-2006, enclosed area 165 m2
